Good afternoon all am new to this site but I have a jaguar s-type 3.0 v6 1999 , I have spent 3 years on and off restoring the car from the ground up , I have finished the rebuild all it need was a couple of warning lights taking off the dash , so I called an home tune guy who I use for all my cars he came out plugged his computer in to my car and we found the car wouldn't connect to his computer .He didn't have time to explore so I just thought I would put it out their to see if anybody had the same problem or if anybody had any ideas how to repair it.

Hi David and (a belated) Welcome to the Club,

It's not unusual for generic ODB2 code readers to fail to establish a connection. You'll either need to acquire a suitable code reader yourself or get a Jag specialist to do the job for you - given that a dealership will want to charge you £80+ for the privilege you may want to spend a few quid more and buy one (but avoid the iCarSoft i930).

Alternatively, you could try reaching out to other members in your part of the world who may be willing to either loan their reader or come over to do the job with you.

Congratulations on having the foresight and desire to do a ground up re-furb - thats another one saved from the scrappers.

Cheers and Good Luck,

Steve
