Faulty smart key

Hi.Just joined this forum and would like some help with a problem.

A couple of weeks ago I was on holiday when I got a message on my dash.Smart key not recognised.This was followed by a smart key battery low.Then it would not recognise the key at all.Placed it in the smart key dock and car started straight away.I then changed the smart key battery and strolled confidently to my car.NOTHING!!

I continued starting it via the dock until I got home and located my spare smartkey.All working fine.

I visited my local auto locksmith who tested the remote and said it was not sending any

signal whatsoever.all battery connections seem to be fine.Can anyone help?
