cooling

HI ALL 

i have the xj6 2005 ford v6 80000 miles temp guage sits bang on the middle once up to temp 

the heater only blows very slightly warm air 

also low coolant light comes on the red one. I thought the amber one would come on then the red one but only the red, when the car is switched on the amber and red come on till it goes through its test ,now the car does use water but mostly when the low coolant light comes on it does not need topped up there is absolutley  no sign of external leak the car always fires up first turn no misfiring or steamy exhaust are the two problems related help IAN
