Rough/lumpy idle

Featured Replies

I have a 2016 XF 2.0d R-Sport Auto (57k miles) and the idle is rough and lumpy. I had a fuel and oil filter change, but a few weeks later I had a bad smell of eggs for about a month. The smell has now gone but I’m left with a lumpy idle. It’s worse when the car is really cold, but still lumpy once it’s warmed up. The idle is causing vibrations and it’s not comfortable sitting in the drivers seat. The vibrations continue when I’””engage gear.

Driving along is smooth, acceleration and power is excellent but vibrations are bad when crawling along, and it sounds like the exhaust is vibrating at the back of the car under heavy braking when engine is cold.

I’ve tried injector and DPF cleaner but nothing changed. Took car for long ride at 3-4K revs to clear any sulphur on injectors but nothing changed.

Took car to Fuel Injection specialists in Colchester and they weren’t any help.

Any ideas welcome as I hate driving my car 😞

I have exactly the same issue 😕 did you find out the problem?

Rotten egg smell is usually your catalytic converter. Could also be rotten washer fluid/gunk in the washer fluid tank.
