Rain water coming in under passenger seat.

Featured Replies

Has any one any idea why water is coming through the air vent on my XJ X350 under the passenger seat . I have cleaned drain holes near cabin filter but still coming in into footwell of back passenger.

Hi Eddie, sounds like you have a blocked drain from the AC system, a known problem especially in the New XK models. There is a modification to the drain that avoids future blockages. Not a big problem, but quite a task to access the drain and make the fix.

Do you mean xj and not xk?

The problem of the blocked AC drain persists on both the earlier New XK (X-150) and on the XJ (X-350).

I'm aware of the problem duckbill involving iirc  06/07 and 09 xk however i have never came across the problem involving the 350 model

If you are sure it is rain water, then it should also come in when you hose / wash the car. Have you confirmed that it only comes in due to rain?

Try turning the AC off for a week and see if there is any improvement. Normally, in hot weather with the AC running, you will find a small puddle under the car when parked. Have you seen the puddle recently, or is the driveway dry under the car at all times?

Do you have a sunroof? There are also drains from the sunroof surround, but I have no idea where they travel through the car, but down an A-post would seem logical, ending up near the footwell.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I must admit that I rarely use my jaguar and I assume that the car needs to be running for the AC system for water to build up and come out of the vents under the passenger seat. But I will check that when I run the engine for a while and let you know.

Thanks for the reply. I am sure it is rain water it only leaks when it rains but don`t know why it comes through the air vents under the passenger seat. I have tried a hose pipe but it does not  leak. I don`t know why. I must admit that I hardly use me jaguar not been in it this year. I run it every month to make sure all is okay. There is no sunroof it`s not that. Will keep looking and let you know if I solve the problem.
