F Pace spare wheel size ?

Featured Replies

Hi I'm new to F Pace ownership and have recently purchased a 2017 3 litre to replace my R/R sport TDV8. And I'm loving the Jag after nearly 30 years of R/Rovers. But my concern is the lack of spare wheel there are loads of choices but I have 22" rims fitted and none of the 18" or 19" space saver wheels have the same rolling circumference. When imputing the tyre dimensions into a comparison calculator they are massive difference in overall circumference.
The question is how does this affect the all wheel drive system on the F Pace as with the R/rover all 4 corners must be the same size or it buggers up the diffs some how. So what size wheel and tyre is safe to use with 22" rims on the other 3 corners.
I would appreciate any info and feedback as a search of the form has thrown up no info.
Pete.

Hi Pete, given the limited speed (50 MPH) and limited duration (50 miles) for the use of a space saver wheel, the rolling circumference is less of an issue. Strictly speaking, the space saver is intended to get you to a place of safety where the correct road tyre can be replaced. Those VW Polos that you see driving around for weeks, and overtaking you on the dual carriageway, with the space saver fitted are doing it wrong.

Having said that, my own Range Rover Sport is fitted with 22-inch rims and comes with a factory installed space saver wheel (a relative term of course) that is fitted with a T195 / 70 / R20 116M tyre. Accordingly, there are 20-inch space savers available. Talk to the dealer.

If you do procure a space saver, then you will also need the remainder of the kit - jack, chocks, wheel brace, etc.

Thanks for that just needed to be sure it wouldn't screw the transmission up after 5 miles.

I've never like the look of these skinny little tyres and the thought of driving on one still  scares me a bit so it would only be home or the nearest tyre shop to be fleeced .

Thanks Pete.
