Tyres (Yeah, I know!)

Featured Replies

Hi All

Second post, so still need to be gentle with me 🙂

So, been doing a fair amount of research onto the best boots for my 2011 XKR-S... General consensus seems to be Mich Pilot Sport 4S (happy for people to say otherwise!)...

Suspect current tyres on newly purchased car (with stage 1 remap, so think about 570HP) have a really decent set of Continental tyres, suspect 6-8mm tread depth... So, my question/s are:

1) Will the Pilot Sport 4S be the 'night and day' change that some posts {elsewhere} have inidcated, at about £950 for 4 new boots? Any comments from people who have actaully switched would be good (I appear to have a heavy right foot, grip is currently, err, you know!) 🙂

2) Is there a second hand market for 255/35/R20 Y + 295/30/R20 Y? Here, or elsewhere, as if tread depth is good on current, seems a shame to bin em (for me and the planet)

Am paying for leather restoration, indpendent Jab inspection, and full 4/5 day detail (car is 2011, mint, straight, but the black is maybe a bit 'dull' now)... If I can pay ÂŁ1,200 for the detail / ceramic, I can pay ÂŁ950 for new tyres, but binning decent tyres just doesn't feel right...

{Retirement lump sums are burning a hole in my pocket, turned 55 late Jan... Had a IRR XKR-S 2013-15, sold when I brought a house, always promised myself I'd get one back one day 😉)

Cheers all!

Jason
