Basically not had this car a week. Drivers seat motors all work however back rest is at its most upright setting in quite a reclined position no where near as upright as it was when i first bought it or when compared to the passenger seat. Almost like the seat has dropped. The motor works as it reclines and still goes forward but stops short of my desired position

Welcome to the forum.

 

One thing you could try which may help diagnose the problem, it is highly likely the seat controller module that may be the problem.  You can verify this by swapping the drive and passenger seat modules.

 

Obviously if the passenger seat module works on the drivers seat, it is the module which needs repair of replacement.  Obviously if it doesn't work then there is an issue in the seat.

Ill give him your suggestion. It is a 14 year old car 26.05.99 birthday tomorrow so i expect one or two tiny faults!

You could always bring it up to the Heritage Motor Centre tomorrow and have a celibration there :D
