Reliability of high mileage S types

I have a 2007 2.7 diesel S type with a mileage of 72,000. I have over the last year started encountering reliability problems. With such a high mileage I am wondering whether to sell it because of potential future reliability problems, or whether to keep it recognising that I may incur greater maintenance costs.

Does anyone have experience of the reliability of high mileage S types?

I bought my dream S-Type this time last year, I would have liked to have found a newer model but to be honest the price was in the right ball-park so off I went.  The Jag is a 4.2 V8 Sport and had a good service history with 79 thousand on the clock.  There were a number of minor issues identified by an AA inspection and apart from one (discussed with the garage = discount) the garage put them right.

 

I've been running the car for more than a year now and the car is on 92 thousand miles and just sailed through its MOT :D, while on the inspection ramps I had a chat with the MOT technician and he remarked what good condition the car was in - always good to hear.   I've had a couple of things which have needed to be done over the last 12 months but have taken these as wear and tear.  In the near future the front pads will need changing and a little more long term I may replace the suspension.

 

My previous car was a pug which I owned for almost 10 years and took it from 39k to 197k miles, as above most of the issues were wear and tear especially as I use the car every day (as with the Jag now) and also a double return trip to Bournemouth once a month (son lives down there with his mother).

 

A good car, well maintained and with a budget to replace items that wear should stand the test of time, yes there are going to be those annoying things - stone through the radiator etc.  Only time will tell.
