  1. The rear brake discs on my 2.7 diesel S Type are getting hot to the touch; the callipers have been checked by a local brake/exhaust company and found to be OK. So, where this friction heat is coming from is, at the moment, a mystery. Any members had similar issues and if so, what was the cause and the remedy? Thanks in advance. KC
  2. Thanks Rich. Got a 'phone call from the garage this morning but only to ask if it's OK to go ahead with diagnosing/investigating the problem but no hint as to what the problem actually is; keeping everything crossed in the hope that it is a tappet or something at the upper end of the engine. If it's something along the lines of what you think it may be, I'll just have to be philosophical about it and take the hit and make sure that all of the oils are changed to avoid similar happening again. Thanks again.

Based on 'general advice' from other sources, I ran my 2.7 S Type diesel at high rev's to clear out carbon deposits (engine has recently been Terracleaned), and shortly after beginning the high rev's run, a loud knocking sound developed (similar to a very rogue tappet) in time with the engine rev's so I eliminated anything to do with the gearbox. Anybody had experience of similar happening to their S Type and if so, what was the root of the problem? Thanks.
  4. Hello all. I'm a new member and owner of a S Type 2.7 diesel which I've had for just over 12 months and still getting to understand this beautiful beast. Issue. I've had 2 recent experiences of the fuel pre heater (which I didn't know existed) belching copious amounts of blue/white smoke from the front near side of the car (maybe the ultra low weather temperatures of Feb' March '18, haven't helped - or did they?). One member has suggested removing the fuse that controls the electrics for this component (no fuse, no smoke), but I'd welcome comments from any of the membership who can empathise with this problem, method of control. Thanks in advance.
