    SELKent home mechanic needed

    Hi all, hope you're well I have a 1998 Daimler 4.0 L V8 auto. Having a tapping/ ticking problem with engine, think it might relate to: Tapping noise from VVTs (solenoid related?), tappet clearance, oil may need flushing. The tapping/ ticking noise on start up stops after flick of accelerator up to roughly 1400 rpm, but occasionally may start a fair time into journey. Quieter tapping/ ticking continues still. Looking for a Jaguar home mechanic who would understand what needs doing. I'm in Bexleyheath. Thanks for help, Charley
