XF Fuel Consumption
I have a 3.0 d XF, and I have family living in Edinburgh as live in Portsmouth. I drove up to Edinburgh with herself at New Years, total distance, 453 miles, M275, M27, M3, A34, M40, M42, M6,M74, A702. stopped twice for a tea and a pee, and filled up before I left Portsmouth, (to the brim 58 litres) did'nt need a top up until I got to Edinburgh with some to spare Average speed 70-85 mph (sorry officer) wee bit faster on the M6 when I could. Same deal on the way back, same route. Is this common? I was expecting to fill up/top up before i got there. its my first XF, had a 2.7 d S Type before. Curious Ray

Idle problem
I had an S Type that used to do that too, in fact it used to cut out a lot more when idling. It was a 99 Model too. When I took it to a garage, the chap told me he had to swap out an intake hose as it had a nick in it, not sure what hose he was talking about, but he did say it was a problem as the hose was lying over the radiator, and got so hot and made a hole in it causing it to cut out when idling. Not very helpful I know but, check your (cheaper) hoses.

my new xf
You dont get a spare wheel these days on newer cars, it was highlighted on Watchdog just the other day. Your run flat types will have to be fixed if you have a flat, using the kit you should have in your boot.
