  2. hello Jim, It is just the satnav and all 3 garages have played around endlessly with the disc player, to no avail. I like the idea of hooking up my Android 'phone to get Maps etc, so I will check out Cartonics etc. Thanks for your advice, I'll let you know how I get on.
  3. Yes, new one fixed all issues thanks

  5. Hi Jason, as far as I know, all of the original functionality remains with the Cartronics set up, uses the existing display screen just adds additional capability. If you have now joined the XKCC, the website has a couple of reviews of both Cartronics and Mr 12 Volt systems, check them out. On the tyres question on your other post: Dunlop and Pirelli are the "development" tyre brand for the XKR and you are correct in wanting to ditch the Continentals, never been happy with cars with those fitted. Plus, any tyre over 5 years old these days is suspect on something with +500 BHP. N6 JMX
  6. Thank you Adrian and Joe for your responces to my query. I am exploring the "separate module/antenna for the for the remotes" approach to see if i can find what needs repairing / replacing.
  7. Hi Jason For me as long as the Continentals are as good as you indicate (check the sidewalls for any cracking / damage) as long as they are not too old I would leave them there and save the £950 for those inevitable bills. The tyre age is stamped into the sidewall as 4 digits. First 2 digits give the week number and final 2 digits the year, so 4018 would be week 40 of 2018. Enjoy your new toy. John

Thanks for the tips. I did get in the boot and have my wife spray all around the lights and boot with the hose but couldn't see or feel any water coming in. I'll give the chalk/talcum powder idea a try as I hasn't thought of that. Didn't test the water but it was quite clear so assumed it was rain water. There were two small pools. One underneath the battery tray and the other in behind the fuse box
  24. Hi thanks for getting back so quick . Yeah the alternator was an approved jaguar one, the battery is showing about 12.8 when the engine is off and 14.4 when running so that is within the parameters. The rear bcm module ( fusebox) was replaced with a genuine brand new jaguar one and reprogrammed as the one that was in it had dragged due to water ingress so the car the car is no longer showing low voltage that has gone as have all the fault codes that were related to it when you run diagnostics. The warning is now "check pedestrian system" which has confused me somewhat as that was not there before
  25. Thanks Steve, It is very useful but the guy who built them before I bought the house used to build MGBs.... which are considerably shorter than most Cars so to fit the XK in I have use wheel skates and sit it at 45 degrees. Glad it is the width it is otherwise it would be useless 😁.
  26. Ah...that makes sense. Much appreciated 😊👍
  27. What a beautiful machine and I definitely agree with you about the wheels Welcome to the club
  28. Ebay or breakers yard I would imagine would be your best bet if you want a specific colour
  29. I remember the carbs were always a sod to set up on the V12
