  2. Hi Jason, as far as I know, all of the original functionality remains with the Cartronics set up, uses the existing display screen just adds additional capability. If you have now joined the XKCC, the website has a couple of reviews of both Cartronics and Mr 12 Volt systems, check them out. On the tyres question on your other post: Dunlop and Pirelli are the "development" tyre brand for the XKR and you are correct in wanting to ditch the Continentals, never been happy with cars with those fitted. Plus, any tyre over 5 years old these days is suspect on something with +500 BHP. N6 JMX

  6. Hi Jason For me as long as the Continentals are as good as you indicate (check the sidewalls for any cracking / damage) as long as they are not too old I would leave them there and save the £950 for those inevitable bills. The tyre age is stamped into the sidewall as 4 digits. First 2 digits give the week number and final 2 digits the year, so 4018 would be week 40 of 2018. Enjoy your new toy. John

  9. Hi All, I just wanted to say thanks for all your comments, they’ve been very helpful. Thanks, Nigel
  10. Well here we are February 26, and the car is fixed, After being at 3 garages, a new alternator and a new battery and fuel sensor's ! turns out when they removed ECM as they think it faulty. Below there was a corroded wire rubbing on the body work,, striped and replaced. Cars back,, Thanks to, “in car tunes “Seaton Delaval, just took him 3hr
  11. I have reluctantly sold my XJL, sad to see it go but common sense prevailed and the world is full of cars looking for a new home. So for the time being I am not a Jaguar Owner….. but watch this space !
  12. To add, car has done 6K in last 5 years, so good chance current have persished a little...
  13. Sorry not replied ,yes have been to see jagutek car is booked in and looking forward to getting to know them . So thank you indeed LairdScooby !
  14. Hi All Second post, so still need to be gentle with me 🙂 So, been doing a fair amount of research onto the best boots for my 2011 XKR-S... General consensus seems to be Mich Pilot Sport 4S (happy for people to say otherwise!)... Suspect current tyres on newly purchased car (with stage 1 remap, so think about 570HP) have a really decent set of Continental tyres, suspect 6-8mm tread depth... So, my question/s are: 1) Will the Pilot Sport 4S be the 'night and day' change that some posts {elsewhere} have inidcated, at about £950 for 4 new boots? Any comments from people who have actaully switched would be good (I appear to have a heavy right foot, grip is currently, err, you know!) 🙂 2) Is there a second hand market for 255/35/R20 Y + 295/30/R20 Y? Here, or elsewhere, as if tread depth is good on current, seems a shame to bin em (for me and the planet) Am paying for leather restoration, indpendent Jab inspection, and full 4/5 day detail (car is 2011, mint, straight, but the black is maybe a bit 'dull' now)... If I can pay £1,200 for the detail / ceramic, I can pay £950 for new tyres, but binning decent tyres just doesn't feel right... {Retirement lump sums are burning a hole in my pocket, turned 55 late Jan... Had a IRR XKR-S 2013-15, sold when I brought a house, always promised myself I'd get one back one day 😉) Cheers all! Jason

  16. Hi N6 Been away for a few days... The Cartronics one looks like a head unit retrofit, will research if this removes any functionality, whereas think the Mr12Volt one utilises the current screen, need to do some research 🙂 Have signed up to XKCC, hope to make meet later in year, maybe we'll get to say hello! Cheers again Jason

  35. Hi all, first time post. I have a 2018 Xf Sportbrake RSport. The rear passenger shock strut has failed and I'm struggling to find a replacement. It's adaptive suspension and the actual shock is fine. It's the strut that needs replacing but its very confusing. I've seen part number T2H34713 and t2h19520 gx6318080e quoted but can't be sure. Any help appreciated

Thanks for the tips. I did get in the boot and have my wife spray all around the lights and boot with the hose but couldn't see or feel any water coming in. I'll give the chalk/talcum powder idea a try as I hasn't thought of that. Didn't test the water but it was quite clear so assumed it was rain water. There were two small pools. One underneath the battery tray and the other in behind the fuse box
  38. Hi thanks for getting back so quick . Yeah the alternator was an approved jaguar one, the battery is showing about 12.8 when the engine is off and 14.4 when running so that is within the parameters. The rear bcm module ( fusebox) was replaced with a genuine brand new jaguar one and reprogrammed as the one that was in it had dragged due to water ingress so the car the car is no longer showing low voltage that has gone as have all the fault codes that were related to it when you run diagnostics. The warning is now "check pedestrian system" which has confused me somewhat as that was not there before
  39. Thanks Steve, It is very useful but the guy who built them before I bought the house used to build MGBs.... which are considerably shorter than most Cars so to fit the XK in I have use wheel skates and sit it at 45 degrees. Glad it is the width it is otherwise it would be useless 😁.
