Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me?

My XK 2006 will not start. My Jaguar specialist has plugged in his laptop and no error codes come up. All modules are present on the bus, but when you press the start button the car fails to crank.

The car for, the last four weeks has been at the specialist, having body work repairs and throughout that period it started every time for them. I collected it and it was fine, it started and stopped throughout the day, got it home, parked it up and next morning it wouldn't start.

At one point the RAC started the car by bridging the solenoid on the starter motor. For the rest of that day it worked perfectly, but once parked up, next morning it wouldn't start.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Hugh

Hugh, it sounds to me like an electrical plug has come adrift whilst at the body shop or if any painting was done then did any overspray get into any plug or socket causing a bad connection. Certainly sounds like a simple electrical problem albeit these sort of problems are not always easy to find. I would start by investigating the ares for which work was undertaken. Good luck, let us know how you get off

Kenny, Thank you for your thoughts on this. I will put this to the body shop and ask them to investigate. Best regards, Hugh
