Hello All,

Newbie Jaguar owner here. I've recently bought a 2003 X-Type 2.1L V6 Petrol - a hefty upgrade given I was driving a Peugeot 206 before! After much thought, I decided to step it up ;)

I'm not going to make any upgrades - the car looks great as it is, but I think a full service wouldn't be a bad idea! Only other minor issues I've noticed are:

1. The passenger side of the bonnet won't shut properly and remains slightly ajar - not sure why this started happening, it was okay before. Now the horn beeps every time I use the remote keys to lock it. I need to press down on the bonnet and then tap the keys to lock the car or otherwise lock it using the key.

2. Once the engine starts up there is a smoky effect under the bonnet and smells of burnt oil - maybe the service will fix this, but nothing has come up on the MOT and don't feel hitches in the engine or exhaust while driving it.

3. I can't seem to get the in-built telephone to pair with my mobile - I tried following steps on the manual but no luck. It'll be great to have this working but not a dire need at the moment.

4. The heating system on the Auto mode works a little funny with the air vents not properly working but the heating and temperature control is fine - I just need to adjust the settings manually. Are there any common issues I should be aware of?

Looking forward to more discussions on here!

And finally, some snaps of my ride ;)

Thanks Ken!

One more question if anyone else is watching - does the Jaguar x type have platinum spark plugs, and is it essential that I replace it with the same when I service. Or is this an optional spec - can I go for the usual iridium ones?

Not an X type owner sorry therefore, I will leave that answer to others
