Reversing sensor intermittent fault

Featured Replies

Hi

on my 07 s type - I sometimes get a tone when selecting reverse - and occasionally the sensors do not work at all?

Has anyone got any ideas ?

Regards

Steve

Quite a common problem Steve, it sounds as if you have a sensor on the way out. Its an easy process to establish which sensor is faulty. When you have the problem get some assistance so they can sit in the car. With engine running get them to select reverse obviously with the handbrake firmly on. Go to the first sensor and you should hear it clicking if its not then it to be assumed faulty, if it is making the clicking sound then its fine. Get your assistant to knock the car into neutral and repeat the process on all the other sensors until you can establish which sensor is faulty. They work on a daisy chain basis therefore if 1 does not work then your reversing sensor system will not. Good luck, come back and let us know how you get on.

HI Steve, I have same problem with my front and rear on my 2004 xj8 350, it seems that jaguar sensors don't like damp, cold, hot, or as I read in all the Jaguar forums any weather, thousand of Jaguar owners crying about the same problems, as usual, Jaguar don't want to know
