Hi,

Hope someone can help with this, as a new owner of an X-Type (58 plate) it had me rattled!

Driving home (45 minute journey) a yellow warning light appeared on the dash, the heater plug 'spring' light was flashing and a 'gearbox fault' warning appeared on the display.  I've only had the car two months, and treat it with respect, it has a full service history and has only done 52k miles.  I made it home (phew) and turned the car off, waited a minute and turned it back on again with no sign of the fault. (?????)

I have driven it again for work today with no problems.

My query is: is this a pre-warning of something worse to come or could it have been a faulty sensor? or something else?

Hope the experienced and sage advice of everyone on here can help!

Many Thanks

Geoff

Hi Geoff, I had the same problem on my 08 2.2. The lights and same message came up and it went into limp mode. Like you I switched off, left it for a while and it started ok with no message and not in limp mode. This was fine for a few days but then did same again but didnt clear itself. Took car in and changed EGR valve. ok for a couple of weeks and then all started again. Another garage (jag indep) diagnosed turbo problem. Fitted new turbo and actuator and its been ok for last 2k miles I suggest you get it diagnosed by a good jag workshop. I was lucky that mine was paid by the garage I bought it from. Good luck.

Cheers

Rod
