Good morning all. I've just picked up a 2003 Jaguar S Type. It's looking great in British Racing Green. It's going to have some scratches sprayed to make it look as good as it should.

I want to know if the later, post facelift, model grill will fit straight on, as I'd like to have the mesh grill. I've seen some posts about changing the mesh over, but on the existing grill?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Raymond

Welcome to the JOC

If you have some pics of her that would be great

I changed the grille myself last year, have a look at my post to give you some idea

Thank Steve. I'll grab my camera now. Give me a week. I'll try to email them and upload them. Lol. These cameras on phones are marvellous, eh?

Thanks

You used the mesh and separated the grill yourself? I've seen some coloured grills, but they say the later grill surround is thicker? Does it still fit the mounting points of the older version, if I decide changing the mesh is too difficult?

Thanks

you can buy them pre-made from somewhere like e-bay etc, or from a breakers, I have to say I don't know about them being thicker? I would imagine the fixings would be the same, you will see from my post I cut out the original vertical slats, and sprayed the plastic bit that was left silver, otherwise the surround (black bit) would have showed around were the bonnet meets the grille (Just a personal choice)

She looks very nice Ray, Good choice! (not that I'm biased of course )

It's small little scratches all over and from a distance, you can't notice them. But, I want it to look like it should. Like a Jaguar. Showroom clean.

I see what you mean, is it just the door that's a different shade? from the last pic you sent the rear wing looks quite similar? the scuff marks don't look to bad, and should be a reasonably easy fix, how's the rest of the body work? did you check the sills for rust etc?

Hmmm indeed! I think there are 3 fuse boxes, one engine bay / drivers side above the pedals / and one in the boot I think that cover looks to clean for engine bay

86k you did pretty good there I have to say, getting the paint work back to a decent standard will cost a few hundred, but I think your still on to a winner

Yeah, this is the drivers side footwell cover. The top tab has broken and it won't stay in place. Just another small thing to fix.

these things come to try us

Keep us up to date with any work you get done on her
