whats it worth 4ltr sport. proper Manual box.

Featured Replies

Hi i have a slightly sad looking x300 4 ltrs sport. original 5 speed manual box fitted . it was my pride and joy until the lacquer started to fall off. i know these are very rare with the manual box. just wondering what its worth as i have been trying to get around to respraying it for the last 2 years. i dont think im going to get time so is anyone interested ?

Thanks Martin

It's definitely rare. I was looking for one a couple of years back but couldn't find one and bought a manual S-type instead. I'd still have one in a heartbeat if my time/money/space/other projects situation was better..

Value's a difficult one. In good condition I'm sure it would find a buyer eventually but not many people want a shabby looking prestige car as it kind of defeats the object. I think you'll be up against the same problem that Jaguar had selling them new to be honest, that is that most of the sort of people who want one want an auto. That said the few owners of them love them, it's a small market though.

What's the overall condition like? Is it on the road or has it been sat for a while? Rust would also be a valid concern at its age.

Sorry if that sounds all a bit negative, it wasn't supposed to.

it has been sat for about 2 years but still starts on the button. as said previously the lacquer has peeled. i only know of 2 bits of rust.front r/h side of bonnet and rear l/h wheel arch. i used it daily until i parked it on my drive to start the prep on the respray but spraying is not my forte.  it is great fun to drive. i thought about turning it into a track day car but also have too many projects ongoing at present.

Hi i still have to much going on.  im going to put this up for offers, if anyone interested. the gearbox alone is worth over £500 as its the Getrag 290. very hard to get hold of.  it also has 5 spoke XK wheels that are in fair condition. ring me on 07976903839.

Thanks Martin
