Hi All,

Just joined so I hope I'm in the right place.

I have a 2014 XJ (in Calgary) purchased in 2015 from a dealer and almost ever since we've had it we have had a recurring problem with the display (speedo etc) all disappearing for between 5 and 20 seconds.  The screen used to go totally black but recently has moved to light grey hue - but totally blank.  The other display (for radio etc) works fine.

Other than that, love the car - first Jag I've had and hope to have many more.

This seems to happen randomly and the indicators stop clicking (if on) - can't find any pattern, stationery, moving, speed, hot, cold etc. happens about once in 20 trips. But it happened 3 times last week, which is unusual.

I have asked the dealer to look into this a few times (usually during servicing) and they have tried a few software upgrades etc but without success.  Understandably, this is hard for them to diagnose because of its intermittent nature, but it is a little worrying.  Luckily I brought it with an extended warranty and I have not had to pay for their efforts yet, but my warranty runs out in March and they are suggesting that the issue will no longer be covered after that date (although they may have 1 further look at the problem without charge, post warranty, for goodwill) .

Has anyone else come across this problem, and/or have any ideas on this - any help appreciated.

Pal

There is a recall for that issue - contact your dealership and they will fix it with a software update

Thanks for the response HARR.

I have since taken it in and they have changed the whole display unit - they didn't mention anything about a recall but it is covered under my extended insurance.

It seems that this time some codes showed up that they sent back to HQ who authorised replacement of the unit.
