Just joined the club but have owned my S Type 3.0L Auto since 2004. It’s a 52 plate Jan 03 model. Love the car! I bought it with 11000 miles and it’s now done 182000 and still runs well. It does have a CAMBUS fault which I can’t trace - ABS and other fault lights come on intermittently. Annoying! I do want to keep the car but would really like to get the cambus error sorted.

Hi John and Welcome to the Club,

Just sorted out some ABS problems with my S Type same model year and spec as yours but with only 53k on the clock. I'm not sure about the CAMBUS problem but will do a little digging around. One suggestions is that you search this site and other similar ones for CAMBUS warnings and issues.

Also, if you can find a member who has a Code Scanner that lives near you you might be able to get them to download the DTCs to give you a better understanding of the problem.

If I come across anything helpful I'll let you know.

Cheers,

Steve

Hello guys,,i have a jag sov,2007 2.7,,,im having probs with the head, lights, when i switch them on they are fine for a minute or so,

Then they seem to do what they want ,,they just go off then on, not all at the same time but one will go off then come ,then another will go off then on

If i turn them off then on again they all come on,,then it starts again ,,on off on ,off,,,any ideas,,ive been told it could be the automatic light sensor,

or headlight main beam relay,,,any ideas,,,plsssssss

Hi John,

As promised I did a little digging around and found some material that may be use, unless of course Ron's suggestion regarding the battery proves accurate. See the attached document below which provides a good understanding of the CAN itself and how it works. There is also a link to a thread in the Jaguar Forum with an example of problems suffered by an X Type driver and some clues where the problem may lie. It may be that the twisted pair cable used to create the CAN has deteriorated or been damaged in. If so, this will be localised and, if it can be traced, there may be an inexpensive solution.

Keep us posted and if I find anything else, specific to the S Type, I will let you know.

Hi Jazzman,

Suggest you search this site, and others, for similar problems suffered by others. If you cannot find anything start a new Discussion Topic as that route will get a wider audience.

Cheers,

Steve

Thank you Steve and Ron. Really appreciate your help. Battery does seem ok (had it checked). I think it is a matter of locating the faulty CANbus wires. I’ll keep searching.

Thanks Steve, just getting my head around the site,,where do i start a new topic

Just go to the home page, or any of the sub forum pages, there's usually a Start New Topic box near the top of the page. It's a little easy to miss though so if you're still having problems finding it let me know and I'll provide more info.

Cheers,

Steve
