Hi,

I started to hear a knock from under the car whenever I accelerated so I took my 2001 XJ8 4ltr Sovereign to my local Garage. He reckoned it could be the rear wheel hub failing but on further exploration he said it seems to be the Diff. I live in Tenerife and there is only 1 Jag Dealer and I don't fancy paying the labour rates. Is there any way to get parts for the Diff or does it mean a complete refurbished diff. The problem I've got is shipping the parts from the UK to Tenerife, the only or easiest way is in my luggage when I fly back to Tenerife.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Hi David and Welcome to the Club,

Have you considered searching for the parts you need using Google, eBay, et al and getting them shipped over to you? I know you can get bearing and seals kits for around £275 for some XJs and complete diffs from a breaker for about the same money but thats perhaps a bit of a gamble.

Getting the bits shipped may also save you some explanations at UK/Spanish customs and perhaps arguments with the flight operator over the weight of you luggage.

Good luck.

Cheers,

Steve
