I like a project or two for a rainy day but think maybe this one is a little bit too much to tackle :-)

Daimler found buried in Guernsey back garden

The gear box plate
Image captionA plate for a "self selecting gear box" was among the buried parts

A homeowner's landscaping session took an unexpected turn when she unearthed a classic car buried in her back garden.

Tracy Ward, from Guernsey, and her father Brian Russell were digging out a rockery when the pair started to find pieces of metal.

Further excavation revealed a chassis, engine block, front bumper, window frames and other parts.

Local car experts said a number plate and gear box indicate it is a Daimler, probably from the 1940s or 1950s.

I've considered doing a ground up restoration before.........but never a below ground up. :nopity:

I was surprised to find that quite a few petrol-heads have been interred with their prized motors - and oddly they're not all Yanks. See link below for example.

I should not have been surprised though as many car enthusiasts seem to have more than a few loose screws - fortunately the Jag suspension system insulates and protects us from such loosening effects on our screws. Ya think?

I feel sure Carole will be an expert on this subject...... black plumes and all.

Oops, I hadn't thought I might attract that kind of attention myself. Maybe I can spin it as a new business opportunity she/they could pursue?

Coffin Dodger 2 out.

Ah well, only option now is duck and cover.:tomato:
