Fuel cover not locking, black pin sticking.

Hi All,

My 2006 S Type fuel lid cover  operates via a solenoid, switch to open is below the steering column and the release works fine. The mechanism works fine, but the black plastic pin is sticking and is not fully returning in order to locate the lid. Does anyone have a fix, I have tried lubricating the plastic pin but it still sticks about half way in. Is it easy to replace the whole unit, I looked in the boot but there is no access. I think the access is by removing the lid but I am not sure. Any advice would be appreciated.
