Should I buy an XK / XK8?

Featured Replies

Hello members

can anyone give good advice on whether I should buy an XK or XK8. I haven’t made up my mind which one!

Ive never been mechanically minded but think these are amongst the most beautiful cars ever made....and I’m now going to fulfill an ambition.

What should I buy?....what should I look out for?

Any advice greatly received.

I thank you all in advance

regards

Cambell,

When your looking for an XK8 (I've just bought one) you can check its MOT history (online) it will give you a good idea as to its history and indicate what work was needed which will indicate whether its been hammered or looked after. Try and get a good look underneath on a garage hoist you get a better idea of how much rust there might be, rear wheel arches are prone, and see if there any oil leaks rom engine gearbox  and deterioation of any gaiters. They are fantastic cars if slightly expensive to run. Always use a high octane fuel as you will get better economy and a cleaner engine.

Hope this is helpfull

I'm looking for an XKR and apart from the obvious rust, condition and dealer service wherever possible.  What else should I look out for?  I there a particular model/year that are better or worse than others?
