I was towing a caravan along the M6 when I noticed a burning smell and my speed started dropping off. I dropped down a couple of gears and accelerated. Immediately the “exhaust filter full, contact dealer” red warning light illuminated. I contacted the dealer and the service desk said” we are snowed under with breakdowns, please get a recovery service to deal with it. I’m aware of the DPF design and Oil dilution issues on the Epace. I have a runaround we use for local short journeys and try to keep within the handbook driving guide. I have had the car for 5 years without DPF issues. I have just started towing. Travelling at 60mph for hours would seem to be good for the DPF. However, making the engine work hard, increases the sump pressure pushing more Oil mist out through the exhaust. Is this car suitable for towing? At 9 months JLR had the engine out and replaced the balance shaft due to bearing failure partly resulting from Oil dilution. I now change my oil much more frequently than the service interval.
