Jaguar XKR 2007 Reliability

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am potentially looking to buy an 2007 XKR but I wanted to get some guidance before. How reliable are they, what are common problems with them, what should I be looking out for when buying one?

I plan on using it on the weekend, doing no more than 3000 miles per year in it.

Here is a listing I am looking at and would be grateful if anyone could let me know what they think of this example, if it is a good deal, and if they have had an experience with this dealer?

Thanks is advanced for your help.

Oliver

Hi Oliver,

The 4.2 is a very reliable engine and at that mileage will have very little wear.

The main thing to check is that all the electrics work and there is no faults.

60k the gearbox needs a oil and filter change.

Check that the “duckbill” modification has been carried out for the a/c drain, if not then the passenger side carpet will get wet at some point.

The valley pipes for the cooling system are a potential weak point though again, at that mileage, shouldn’t be a problem.

All in all, a nice car but do ask to see as many receipts for any work carried out.

Good luck.
