i have a 2010 XKR. The adaptive headlamp light is on. They are pointed straight ahead but would like to have them work as intended

Is there a "fix" for this?

Hi Stephen, I don't believe the 2010 XKR has "moving" headlamp projectors that moves the light pattern around. What it does have is an auto on facility, i.e. the headlights come on automatically in low light conditions. However, that is UK specification. As you are NOT in the UK, your model may well have additional specification and / or, as a minimum, daylight running lights (DRL).

Anyone else out there know differently?

Hmmm, thanks Alfie, one lives and learns. Doesn't answer the original post question, but perhaps the XKR owned by Stephen doesn't have the Adaptive light system fitted - there must be some method of determining what the car has!

Although in 2006 adaptive headlights were optional i think it's fair to assume on this occasion the presence of an adaptive headlight fault would only be present if the op's car has that option fitted

The op should scan/get the vehicle scanned for fault codes and take it from there
