Battery problem on 2013 XF 2.2 Diesel with stop start

Hi, I have a Jaguar XF 2.2 diesel registered January 2013. I am UK born now living in Spain. The XF  has 2 batteries factory fitted. One large battery and one small (I think 9v) battery. They both require changing for new ones. The car has not been used for 2 months as it will not start. The large battery is easy to replace but I have found it impossible to get the small 9v battery. Somebody told me that in 2015 Jaguar stopped fitting the small battery but unsure if this is true. I emailed the main Jaguar dealer here in Spain who supplied the car and they simply replied with a price for the large battery and no mention of the smaller one. I replied saying I needed the smaller one as well and they have never replied! Is there anybody with the knowledge to advise me how I solve this problem? Does the car actually require the smaller battery and will work OK without it? Thanks and grateful for any help.

Thanks SO much for the battery info Glyn. Amazon UK have it at 62 pounds + 17 delivery to Spain. End of my problem so thanks once again.

For future info, where the vehicle is fitted with an Auxiliary Battery, this feeds the electronics whilst the vehicle is operating in start / stop mode, maintaining a constant 12V supply to the sensitive electronics. If you find, over time, that the start / stop function fails to operate, it can be due to either battery beginning to fail. The main battery obviously provides the capacity to physically crank start the vehicle, whilst the Auxiliary battery provides the stable voltage.

Too many restarts in a short space of time, as in crawling traffic, will drop the main battery to the point where it automatically switches off the stop / start functionality until such time as the main battery has recharged itself with engine running.

Typically a main battery in a stop / start vehicle will be of the AGM style, and 5-years should be considered as the typical lifespan of the battery before replacement becomes a need.
