Hi

As we are soon to embark on a ferry crossing to France in our 2006 XJ6 TDiV6. Overnight Portsmouth - St Marlo so a long one

How do I disable the alarm?

Is it double press on the key fob?

Use the key in the door lock?

Is there a button to press inside then press lock on key fob?

Leave unlocked?

Last thing I want and the ships crew want is a Jag with a flat battery!

what manual says?

This  happened to my F type a few years ago on the ferry to France. Just use basic lock( One press )

That where I have a problem, the manual I have gives many different settings for the alarm, including pressing a button inside, the door unlock button, it all seams a little vague

Also I am not 100% certain the manual i got with the car is the right one for this car. There a few other things i have looked up and have not worked, like memory seats.....nearly crushed myself on the steering wheel!

oops 😉

haven't seen alarm off procedure myself, would be interesting to see.

A little update.

I left the car unlocked for 12 hours - I know stupid, then again in the search for knowledge and all that - the alarm did not set nor did it go of when I got in.

Next is to lock the car with one blip and get a group of us to wobble bounce and general upset it to see if the motion sensors get set off

Stay tuned!

I travel regularly by ferry. Just use only the first click which locks but doesn't set the alarm. Second click dies set the alarm

Thanks for the info. I am starting wonder if this is the case.

Though by only pressing the fob once I do notice that the red led starts to flash, so some alarm is set.

Is there way to find out what alarm system is on the car, as manual seems to suggest that the movement sensor may be" an option"

I will buy jumps leads.........belt n braces

I thought an update may be in order.

I took the "dodgy" risk of not locking the car whilst it was on the boat, it I believed worked, we sailed through the remnants of Storm Bernard it was a bit (ok very!) bumpy and the old girl fired up when we got to port. On return I could hear a lot of alarms going of, though not ours. Yipee

Thanks for all the suggestions
