What's this random connector in engine bay?

I have a Jaguar XF Portfolio March 2015 2.2d, looking in the engine bay last weekend I saw the BLUE connector below that is not connected to anything.

Any idea what it is? There is no connector nearby that it could connect to as far as I can see.

I'd have thought if it was redundant or for some accessory my car doesn't have then it would have a waterproof plug added???

For anyone who is wondering...

Beneath the fuel filter is a connector that this blue socket fits into. Oddly in my car (XF X250) although the connector is there, there are no pins to mate with this socket so redundant. I assume some modules fuel filters have an electrical connection to this plug but mine doesn't.
