Non-working Sat Nav in a 2008 Jaguar XK

Featured Replies

I have taken my XK to 3 garages so far, 2 of them Jaguar specialists, to see if they could repair the sat nav or somehow get it working again, but I have had no luck at all.  Does anybody know where I could go next to resolve the problem or is there a spare sat nav out there?  My understanding is they are no longer made for the XK and so it has to be a complete sat nav/electrical refit.

Is it just the satnav that's inoperative? If yes, then the likely culprit is the disc player in the boot. However, the system is so out of date that it is almost pointless to try and get a repair, unless of course you are seeking to keep originality.

There is an option on the 4.2 litre engined cars to have an upgrade to allow Apple CarPlay / Android Auto hooked up, which gives you all of the advantages of phone mirroring, Google Maps, Waze, etc. It's more convoluted in the 5.0 litre engined cars - it can be done, but more complex.

Check out systems like Mr 12Volt and Cartronics. Come back here if you need more steer.

hello Jim,

It is just the satnav and all 3 garages have played around endlessly with the disc player, to no avail. I like the idea of hooking up my Android 'phone to get Maps etc, so I will check out Cartonics etc.

Thanks for your advice, I'll let you know how I get on.
