Hi all, this is my first time posting, be gentle with me please !!!! I have a 2006 XJ6, 2.7 Diesel which i've owned for 9 mths without a problem but yesterday while on the M1 i experienced a 'muffled pop' and a sudden loss of power while cruising at about 75mph, shortly after the dash displayed 'restricted performance' and 'gearbox fault' !!!! The car went into 'limp mode' and i luckily managed to make it home !!! Before i set off to the garage tomorrow i was hoping someone might be give me some info/advice ????? thanks for taking the time to read my post, Jason.

Welcome Jason, Had you had any work done before the car before the problem happened, is there no visible signs of anything that might have happened in the engine bay, hope you get the problem resolved, keep us updated as we can keep a record of the problems and the remedies. Alan :D

hi, no haven't had any work done on it previously but the problem is being resolved as i type !! Apparently i have a major problem with my 'DPF' ??? This seems to have been an on going problem with the car but with no warnings or messages being displayed !!!!!! this is resulting in me having to replace one of the catalytic converters and a few other bits!!!!! I have since discovered that this is quite a common problem with diesel cars but luckily the garage (David Marks in Nottingham) has assured me it can be resolved and with some 'flashing' will be sorted permanently, fingers crossed.

Hi Jason, Glad you are getting your cat sorted out, DPF = Diesel Particulate filter (Put this in as you put question marks), Jags are not the only car to suffer these problems

You will be able to enjoy your cat again, good luck. Alan :D
