Rear Wheel alignment at maximum

I have a 2005 Estate 2.0D which went for a 4 wheel alignment after I hit a pothole and ruined 2 tyres. The alignment at the rear nearside was way out and in carrying out the adjustment to correct it the garage was unable to fully complete the task. There was no more adjustment available. On the offside there was just enough adjustment available to get it within limits but no more. What do I need to replace to get some adjustment back? The garage did talk about forcing the rear wheels together at the bottom to get that adjustment back, but I would rather get the right parts installed. Any idea what is required to achieve this? I would agree...get a second opinion, possibly their equipment could be faulty or out of calibration?

Additionally, there are so many other factors that can affect the geometry when being measured....loading of the car, weight distribution, worn suspension components (bushes, springs, dampers, link arms, etc).

I would imagine if any suspension components are damaged by the pot hole then it would be a case of replacement of the damaged parts before re-aligning.
