hi stupid question but what dose the R badge on the left of the boot mean ?

Hi Bob,

Welcome to forum and Jag ownership.  The R badge on the boot would normally denote the Type R, in other words the supercharged 4.2l V8, it was brought into being to compete with the BMW M5 and the Merc E55 AMG.

The badge is normally found on the right of the rear registration plate, the Type R introduced in 2002 was fitted with an Eaton M112 supercharger producting 400bhp which would launch the car from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. mmmmmm

Best regards,

Dave
