Rear axle pinion shaft oil slinger

Featured Replies

My S-type Jaguar started to exhibit an oil leakage along the axle from the differential unit and the service diagnosed leaking slinger (it is the item No 23 on the attached drawing of the differential unit). Much to my unpleasant surprice I was told this is an item which is not delivered by Jaguar and I was offered to change the whole differential unit. Can someone advise on an alternative supplier of that slinger?

Thanks

Franta

Hi Franta

The part will almost definitely be available from a specialist seal supplier...however, the part will need to be removed from the unit to match it up exactly.

If the seal is only 'weeping' oil rather than 'leaking' oil then I probably wouldn't worry about it too much and you could put an additive in the gear oil to slow it down.

Let us know how you get on

Regards     Trevor
