door locking problems

Featured Replies

Locking car with remote control and all doors and boot are locked/

. Returning to car in the morning and the car doors and boot have unlocked!

It sounds like it could be a problem with the fuses, first thing I would do is check them . Also, the fuse numbers change with model year, so you must make sure that the fuse location document you have matches the model year for your car.

Thank you for reply. Strangely the problem is intermittent. The car remained locked all night last night .I will continue to monitor it.If the fuses had blown wouldn't some or all of central locking system be inoperative all the time?

It may be worth checking the interior lights illuminate/dim when opening and closing all the doors/boot individually.

This way you can check if one of the door switches/motors is possibly defective and not sensing that the door is closed, therefore tripping the central locking to unlocked.

Good thinking Trevor, mine wouldn't lock when the bonnet sensor was faulty, whatever it is, it doesn't sound anything major, just needs locating, you could even try cleaning the fuses in case it's a bad connection.
