  1. Further grief after the above expensive repair (£2k) the car is an absolute dog to start after leaving over night whereas it used to start on the button now it takes 3 or 4 times to start and when it fires eventually runs on only about 2-3 cylinders for about 1.5 minutes but once settled down it goes and performs perfectly with great acceleration and power delivery all day long and starts on the button during this period on every occasion, its a real pain and with cold weather on the way can see it not starting at all, ANY IDEAS GUYS a jaguar specialist over the phone suggested that he thinks it is a very minor air leak in low pressure system not priming the pump correctly I am open for any ideas folks before I take it back to the repairers to try and sort ???. thanks in anticipation guys !!
  2. thanks steve and yes as has been seen in this forum the high pressure pump was breaking up causing the metal particles to block the system not an uncommon fault apparently hopefully all sorted now .
  3. Ah well all sorted as per replacement parts as mentioned in last post lets hope that is the last of it as she is running like a dream albeit a big hole in my pocket !!!
  4. latest diagnosis not good h/p fuel pump breaking up system contaminated with metal filings blocked and knackered all injectors, so need new pump/injectors/filters/complete fuel system including tank to be drained and cleaned out, and the tank is full up with ultimate diesel just my luck so expensive repair on the way, ah well it happens I guess but its such a nice car in great condition so I am getting it done wish it was not so near to xmas !! will let you guys know the outcome once all done .
  5. Thanks for all your help guys car still in repairers and they still trying to diagnose the problem !!!
  6. thanks Rod I guess it was expensive then ?? did you get a new turbo from Jaguar or elsewhere ??
  7. Hi guys here's hoping someone can help my lovely x/type 2.2 diesel auto which I have only had for about 5 weeks broke down this morning about 2 miles from home it started juddering badly then a light came on for glowplugs and then computer message gearbox fault both of which I am not sure were relevant then engine cut out completely and refused to start again spent 3.5hrs awaiting AA recovery who could do nothing except arrange to have car removed to a local vehicle repairers, diagnostic which he plugged in said fuel pump fault and guy cracked an injector union whilst I cranked it over and fuel being delivered so not sure what it could be apart from expensive I guess, car has done 88k with a full regular service history has anyone experienced same type of fault please ??? thanks guys.
  8. Thanks Joe that's probably what I will do !
  9. Hello guys has anyone got any idea as to what price I should expect to pay for a complete exhaust system for my 2008 2.2 diesel ?? I assume they come ready to fit with DPF able to be inserted as I don't want that replaced, looking underneath car yesterday I looks like the original system is still on but looking like on its last legs but not blowing as yet, any experienced info would be appreciated thanks !
  10. Thanks Tom I had it done at my friends car /tyre business and they used the recommended Ford low ash oil /filter I have not had any DPF issues as yet but I do very little mileage and a few short journeys but try to give it a blast for a few miles once or twice a week time will tell I guess .
  11. Cheers Steve I had done all that but the dipstick seems a very flimsy piece of crap which allows it to wander still I got fed up with it and had an oil/filter change today so will monitor closely !
  12. Hi Guys please can someone tell me if this is normal but I seem to be having a nightmare trying to get an accurate engine oil level on dipstick I end up trying it several times but not a solid level seen on stick but a broken stream above the max mark is this normal as its driving me potty ?? and I want to ensure level is correct especially in light of the DPF filter generation of fuel into sump chance and overfilling of oil thanks in anticipation folks .
  13. Thanks guys I love it up to now and will have a bit of fun tinkering with a few minor issues but hopefully not too much trouble I hope by the way trying to get an accurate level reading on the engine oil dipstick is a nightmare is that the norm ??? mine looks a td overfilled , thanks guys .
  14. ok Thanks Colin its not a major issue but I am a fussy bugger and if there is an item in car it should work even if I don't use it lol just a me thing I guess I will have a play with switch when I find it cheers matey !
  15. Thanks for the reply Joe you maybe right it could be an ambient light I will check it out, also the module in boot looks ok but I may remove it and give it a spruce up to see if it helps thanks again.Les.

  17. Hello everyone I have just acquired my first Jaguar although to the purists not a real one it is a 2008 2.2 diesel X/Type in pristine condition and I am very pleased with it but also am sure I will be popping into here on odd occasions for some advice, I was previously a member of a Honda site similar to this and found it very helpful I hope this one will be as good.
