  1. Hi all, just a line to update on my ICE problems. If you've been following, I bought an X Type 2002 a month or so back but it had a Mini Disc head unit fitted as an option by the original purchaser. I have sourced a CD unit from a very nice bloke who was breaking a 2004 model, cautiously, I admit because I wasn't 100% sure if it was a straight swap.(Thanks Steve for the info). I found a local firm that undertook the recoding for £20. While it was away I purchased a replacement gear change gaitor off Ebay for £7.95 because the vinyl one was getting a bit worn and was split in a couple of places. So both jobs done today, looking pretty smart again I think.
  2. Spot on exactly 6 most under duress. But I notice that there aren't any Stephen King, Clive Barker or Dean Koontz novels on the list.
  3. Mine isn't bud. So that that'll be a 'no!' then. Just fitted with the standard cat 1 alarm.
  4. Hi all, after my previous posts to do with replacing the standard mini disc thats fitted in my motor with a cd standard one, I have now acquired a unit from a 2004 x type. Has anyone got knowledge on the best ie easiest and cheapest way to get the unit recoded prior to fitting? Thanks.
  5. Hi there, it sounds like the alarm is sensing a voltage drop in the electrical system, could be nothing more than a bad earth on the negative strap from the battery. How old is your motor?
  6. Are all the x type CD head units the same and interchangeable? I have a 2002 model and have seen for sale a CD unit from a 2005 model, will it fit? Is it the same dimensionally and will the plug fittings be the same. Thanks guys.
  7. Not having the luxury if having the handbook when i bought the motor, given that it is used as the general family car, a trip to London from the Midlands every couple of weeks what oil should i be using? X Type 2.1 V6 2002 (52 plate). What is the handbook recommendation? Thanks!!
  8. I spent Sunday afternoon cleaning and hoovering in every nook and cranny and haven't come across anything that looks like one Steve, I assumed they would have mounted it in the boot. But then who on earth specifies a mini disc over a cd player in 2002?!!
  9. Yes Steve I do, I'd like to keep it as original as possible, I'm a bit weird like that.

  14. Here you go. Any info whether it would be better to replace the head unit with a cd one or whether it would be better to add a multichanger. I think I would rather change the head unit just so you can change cd's on the go, as it were.
  15. I'll post one tonight Steve, its the standard set up from new though not an after market one.
