  1. Bit untidy, but who's going to see it with the lid on.
  2. Going to view the Nevis wheels in the morning, appointment already made, but on reflection its looking like i will be sticking with the Triton 18s. Just working on soldering my powerfold module at the mommen for the mirrors.
  3. Thanks for the very informative post Jim, as you are aware from my previous posts, the car is on 18 inch Tritons, and the Nevis rims are reasonably priced at a tad over £700 Inc. tyres with a good 7mm, so I thought it was worth a punt, but having read what other connoisseurs of the marque are writing, I am beginning to think this is a step too far.
  4. Components now purchased for the powerfold on double lock refinement, biggest p.i.t.a is laying out the vero board Quiet moment now required
  5. Has anybody come across a module that will retrofit, to facilitate powerfold door mirrors on keyfob double lock.
  6. Got the chance to buy a set of genuine jaguar Nevis 20 inch wheels (see picky below) 8.5j front 9.5j rear for a grand 7mm tread to all corners. Bearing in mind these retail in excess of £600 each, I think this is a great buy, but I have a few niggles, would they suit my cat, secondly I'm worried about the offset to the rears and finally what would be the difference to the handling characteristics. Anyone got any thoughts on this, at the moment my cars running on 18 inch Tritons. Honest opinions required, if you think it will look like the dogs dinner tell me
  7. You tell me! Havn't got a clue methinks its the wrong wheel the dealer put in on purchase because its even the wrong jack. Dealers, you got to love them.
  8. Owned Jags for the last 44 years in and around Manchester
  9. Had cause to change the wheel to the get you home tyre through puncture, after fitting, the EPB would not release, so ended up putting the punctured wheel back on and inflating it to get me to the nearest tyre company where i had 2 rear tyres (Goodyear Eagle F1) fitted because i like to have same tyres on the axle. Hope this answers your question Simjag.
  10. Cheers Steve. Checked this one out already but dont fancy the repair thats been done, thanks for looking though.
  11. Cheers guys, will try both suggestions.
  12. Looking for 18 inch triton wheel, to be used as full sized spare, due to the fact that the get you home wheel supplied with my S type wont even go on the hub without fouling the EPB. No tyre req. Admin please feel free to remove if not allowed and accept my apologies.
  13. After talking to the technician at some length over the last couple of weeks i based my decision on his experience and the fact he uses the same product on his own vehicle and the other prestigious vehicles that use the same ZF gearbox,i did initially insist he use the ZF oil but after viewing a ZF company infomercial Dexron is one of their recommended lubricants, so 2 against 1. No contest. Been out in the old girl this morning and its changing up at 2000 revs with a light foot, going to give it a week or two before any serious lead foot action.
  14. Good morning Jim, ended up going to TamesideTransmissions. Manchester and the price quoted last week was £350, however after a bit of discussion managed to get the job done for £260, think it helped the technician was the proud owner of a 2 year old XK, thought you would have posed the question why Dexron 6? By now
  15. Cars done 95000 mls so decided to have the job done after reading many, many reports and arguments for and against, and i can say the difference was instantly nnoticable, gear changes smoother, the lurch characteristic less defined and the car appears to be less straining both on engine and driver. On the technicians advice (30 yrs experience) on auto boxes went for dexron 6 oil, an oil he uses on his brace of cats and up to now all seems well but time will tell. The discarded oil was still a lovely golden colour even after the milage covered. One satisfied customer
  16. Its that warm here i've got my mankini on, its not a pretty sight!. Think i've sorted it, been cleaning and feeding the leather and i think i may have been a little over zealous with the leather treatment and i am assuming its infiltrated one of the air circulation sensors. Now everything has dried out it seems to be returning to normal.
  17. Mines on now Peter, could grow orchids in the car at the moment in my opinion, yet the car tells me its too cold to do so. Ah well she knows best!
  18. Anyone else had the snowflake and the readout indicating 3 degrees although it being 13 degrees in the garden, and like a greenhouse in the car
  19. Got rid of the pigeon !Removed! and polished my lady, the car that is
  20. Paul. dont know if you have heard of a programme called wheeler dealers, they recently did an xk and managed to buy a new lining as a kit, maybe worth a look into. Probably on youtube. Hope this helps
  21. I am assuming he was reffering to the drain plug. But i will be present when the work is carried out and nothing will go unnoticed.
  22. I did not know that! I will be having words as they were initially going to charge me £20 quid for one. Just hope they live up to the reviews, all good and many prestigious vehicles in their compound so heres hoping.
  23. Cheers for all suggestions guys, the company do seem to know what there talking about the technician has even insisted on changing the drain plug on renewal of the sump and filter.
  24. Tameside Transmissions in Manchester are doing the work and he has said i can watch every step, and i hope to get a few piccys. I am just nosey by nature. As an aside i did get a quote from main dealer, they quoted £150 for sump kit, £30/ltr trans fluid plus labour and VAT Total cost £450
