  1. I suspect clicking on the upgrade to VirtualBox 6.1 may not have been my smartest move.
  2. I am beginning to realise this. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I do have an old Toshiba somewhere; must dig it out. To be honest SDD scares the hell out of me; I just needed it to enable my newly installed CD changer and (combined) Bluetooth module. I would have liked to re-program my remote air-con thingy but was afraid. Cheers, Aidan
  3. I am afraid my SDD no longer talks to my Mongoose.
  4. I have a Mongoose clone and SDD v130 running on a Windows XP virtual machine on a Windows 10 laptop. The bad news is that I have very little knowledge or experience using it. I needed it to enable a CD changer and Bluetooth module that I had fitted almost a year before. My local Jaguar main dealer was unwilling to configure a car as old as my 2005 S-Type and an independent specialist wanted 2.5 hours labour to do the 15 minute task. I have not done any module programming or the like; just enabling accessories. I have notes on how I did this if you need them. The other bad news is that I am based in East Berks but if you find yourself down this way I am happy to let you play with it and offer my limited advice. It is powerful but scarey kit. I ended one of my first attempts by unplugging the cable and was rewarded with a 'check engine' light the next time I started the car; you need to formally 'end' every 'session'. You did not say what you were attempting to do with your SDD/IDS setup? Cheers, Aidan PS. My signature is out of date; I was working on my 2005 S-Type (I still have the 2000 S-Type but don't drive it much).
  5. This might be related to a loose or otherwise bad connection. I had a similar problem with my sat nav; but in my case it was a fresh retrofit. 10-15 mins without sat nav on cold mornings; then sprang into life. My new wiring was not secure; tightening it up sorted it.
  6. Interesting. My radiator failed before Christmas and I found that the bottom of the old one had bowed downwards (over a centimeter in the middle) but there was a kseal-resisting leak. (The leak would seal, then blow again a few days later, then blow again). Messy job but the new radiator is holding up well.
  7. Bluetooth is not the most difficult retrofit; I have done it to my 2005. You will need: 1 Microphone (drivers side of roof console, plugs in under roof console) 2 Phone module (behind nearside boot lining) 3 Additional D2B (optical) harness (if you do not already have a D2B device in the boot you may not need this) 4 Voice bypass jumper 5 BTUM (actual bluetooth unit; under centre console; your year should have the correct wiring; mine didn't) 6 You will likely need to 'code' your car to get everything working (especially if you do not already have a D2B device in your boot) You can fit an X-Type combined PSE and BTUM (7w93-10d893-ab) in place of items 2 & 5 above; this will need a bluetooth antenna (this is what I fitted). With the exception of making a hole in your headlining beside the roof console, and the 'coding', it's all plug and play. Cheers, Aidan PS: my car details on this forum are out of date; I have both a 2000 and a 2005 S-Type
  8. Michael, did you ever get your fuel pump? When I had the same problem with my 2000 S-Type I got a second hand one from Berkshire Jag Components. I live locally and picked it up but I know he ships. The stink of petrol from a used pump would be an issue when shipping. I know that another approach is to replace the electric pump component from the pump assembly. As you probably know, running the car with a very low fuel level causes the pump to overheat; that is what happened to mine.
  9. Hi Richard, I also own a 2000 S-Type with CD SatNav. I cannot remember where I read it but I read that update CDs do not extend past the early 2000s. If I can find the discussion in my bookmarks I will update this post. Of course, if you have sourced a newer CD I would be very interested in following your lead. Cheers, Aidan
