R mean on the back of a X type

Featured Replies

Anyone tell me What the R symbol on the back of an X type means please ?

I think it means "Racing" as it appeared on the early Jaguar racing cars.

What I am positive about is that if you put your foot down in any model the with the R badge on the back you will not get a surprise --  something much more than that!

Peter.

There isn't a production X type R. The r on the back of an S type, XJ or XK means they are fitted with a super charger. The R on the back of an X type means some ones stuck a badge on it.

Hello Fellrunner.

I think basically somebody bought the wrong car so they stuck the R badge on to make themselves feel better. It would have been far less embarrassing to just by an S Type R, that is going to be my treat next year ;)! Hope that helps.

John.
