Front bearings

Featured Replies

Hi I've got a 52 plate x type, last week I changed the front bearing on my jag.Now it's back together it will not run smoothly at all and from the new bearing it still seems to groan when you turn and the brake pedal grates as if the abs is on.The car will not pull at all when you try to drive it.Also an amber light is flashing in the centre of the clocks which the manual just says is a warning light but for what, thanks in advance for any help

Hi Kevin, and welcome to the club.

I cannot explain why the bearing is causing a problem - there could become members along who could give a hint or two.

The amber waring light does need investigating, and I would recommend plugging in a OBD2 scanner to find out what the problem is and then take it from there.

You have not said if your car is a petrol or diesel, which would help.

Regards,

Peter.

Sorry Peter it is a 2.1 petrol and I've got somebody coming today with a magic box to plug in so we'll see what it says.If the bearing is not pushed in far enough could this cause the problem as my mate doesn't think it's been seated properly.

The problem is solved not only was the bearing not seated it was cream crackered the so called mechanic who put it in had mashed it up,it had collapsed and that's why from putting it back together it was making a groaning and grating noise. But thanks Peter for your help
