Hi all,

Still playing with my old X type and now considering installing an air induction kit and possibly remapping of the ECU. Have read you can get some quite amazing results but was wondering if anyone has first hand experience of these upgrades? Any pitfalls to look out for?

Hi

Don't know much about induction kits on the x type but

I do know you need to fit one that draws cold air from the front of the car

If you just slap a big K&N cone filter on it, it might look cool and sound great, but I can guarantee you will lose power, due to sucking hot air from the engine bay

you want greater flow but the air temp needs to be cooler

just by fitting a K&N replacement panel filter in your standard air box, enlarging the airbox opening and fitting a cold air duct from the airbox to the front area, will gain more benefits than any open type filter in the engine bay.

cheers

Joe
