Second Jaguar I have driven

Featured Replies

Hi,Interesting forum, as I have already said I have fulfilled a long held ambition by buying aJaguar X Type 2.2 diesel which I am delighted with after one month. When I was 23 years old as a young police officer in Ayrshire I drove a black Jaguar 2.5 ,the same vehicle driven by Inspector Morse in the TV series I can remember it had six spark plugs in the middle of the block which had the habit of collecting oil when topping up which it needed frequently.I also remember the twin carburettors which had to be carefully synchronised pretty often. All this was 60 years ago I am afraid

Thinking of buying a 2009 2.2d in the very near future.

How does it compare, whats fuel consumption like etc.

cheers Ian

I think it's a marvellous car Ian got all the bells and whistles that I need.It is smooth to drive once the engine reaches operating temperature, it overtakes effortlessly and the acceleration is truly impressive, I am getting  around 46 mpg on the M74 which is a major improvement on my previous car a Saab 9.5.

Thank you for that I do not do a great mileage, once a week to Dumfries ,other than that just around the country here it will also be used to train racing pigeons probably as far as Carlisle.I would be delighted to put up pictures if I could work out how to do it on this IPad.
