New XK owner, looking for some advice

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

The name is Richard, and I've just taken the leap and got a 2007 XK......300 miles in and I love it!

Not like anything I've ever had before (Audi A4/6, BMW 3/5, Merc E, Boxster) - I will never get tired of that start up noise.

Kids are torn between loving the V8 and being crippled in the rear, but I'm fine.

Couple of questions, that I'm sure have been answered before;

1. I've removed Fuse 4 as the aerial is ridiculous, any smart mods to give me radio without looking like I'm in the world's biggest radio controlled car?

2. Any tips to get iPhone music through the Audio system?

I'm based in Worthing, any other South Coast XK's out there?

Hi Rich,

heres a link that might help, just depends whether you want to go down the aftermarket route or having the expensive OEM route.

I am using this device and it is very good, even allows commands by Siri

let me know if you need to know more

regards

Andrew

Hi Richard - I'm also in Worthing, just got my XK at the end of April!

Hi Richard

Personally, I am one of the very few that like the old "dodgem" car style aerials - the OEM update was to located the aerial in the rear spoiler but that still leaves the aerial in the rear wing unless you get the hole filled and painted - expensive !!! I have seen some MB SL & SLKs with bee-sting type aerials which look a little more modern but I don't know of anyone that has fitted one.

The OEM method of using the iPhone is called the ACM - Audio Connectivity Module. This is quite expensive (£200+) and for the early X150's you need to make sure you get the correct version - there are differences and they only work if the year of the module and car match - so if you go this route make sure you get the correct kit.

The other way is to use something from the aftermarket like that suggested by Andrew - I have heard that a Parrot hands free can also be made to work.
