Mirror not working

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I've swapped my silver, manual 2.1 for an green, auto 3.0 sovereign and it's better all round I think. But just one problem - th nearside mirror does not work - it wont adjust and it wont power fold like the offside one does - any ideas?? Thanks in advance.

Hi

Try getting someone to move the wires in the door shut area, they tend to snap wires there where the door keeps opening and closeing

if nothing working, it might be a break in the 12v feed to the switch pack

cheers

Thanks Joe.

Check you have the correct mirror fitted. I have the exact same problem with my recently purchased 3.0 sport premium. It turns out a non power fold mirror has been fitted. There's about 4 different types of mirror depending on spec. The power fold memory mirrors are very rare. I've managed to find one but not had chance to fit it yet.

14 wires? This gets even more confusing, mines a 2006 sport premium with memory & power fold, there's only 3 wires in the plug behind the door card. I'm guessing the later cars used a CANBUS system?

Hi

nope as far as I'm aware they should have 14 wires, none of the mirrors have a control module in them

3 wire's is just for the mirror, no heater, no memory, no electrochromatic, no power fold

cheers

Joe

according to wiring diagram it should have at least 7 wires, 3 for mirror, 2 for power fold and 2 for heated mirror, x-type might be different to s-type

s-type have 14, the mirror has 4 wires for the mirror movement motors, 4 wires for mirror movement motor memory, 2 wires for heated mirror, 2 wires for electrochromatic dimming and lastly 2 wires for power fold, that a total of 14 wires

here a wiring for x-type

Replacement 3 wire mirror fitted & working perfectly, when I removed the shells to swap them over I could clearly see the lack of the powerfold motor in the old mirror.

The 3 wires go into an electronic module in the mirror body, separate wires come from this & feed the various motors etc.

I believe the module under the drivers seat converts the door switch signals to an electronic signal that the mirror module recognises.

I would guess the 14 wire mirror are for older cars, mines a 2006.
