Not exactly to much of a fault although the "average mileage" and "average mpg" which normally displays on the dash keeps "clearing" itself and with what I think is a new reading "auto" appears  on the mileage display screen.  If I hold the left hand trip stalk button on the wheel for a couple of seconds the words "fetching previous journey" or something like that displays and then that average will display until the engine is turned off.  Then it does it all over again!  I want to see the entire averages for the journey/s not just the singular which is what it seems to be doing right now.

I could try removing the car battery and see if it will reset but has anyone heard of anything similar, as I don't want to tamper if it is a simple fix?

Regards

Graham

Try looking on the vehicle setting on the console. I have a couple of trips on mine, trip a, trip b and auto. I set it to which trip i want to view. I.e trip a shows the entire mpg of all my journeys. If your still having trouble ill have a look at mine tomorrow and get back to you. Is your pre or post facelift?

I did manage to solve this annoyance and was pleased to find that it was indeed the trip setting as Lukexfs states above!  I have a theory how the settings might have changed in the first place - - - around the time I had a new battery (just before Christmas) I believe I first noticed this.  Might it have somehow been that the power shut down when taking off the battery leads might have corrupted the re-start procedure to default to "Auto" instead of trip "A" or trip "B"?  Anyhow its good again now.  I did in fact find this myself prior to my mot but I will still credit Lukexfs for also finding the culprit.  Well done Luke!

Oh and my one is pre-facelift model.  Good job because I don't like the stop start on the facelift, nor the 8 speed box!
