Hi everybody. I am thinking of installing a tracker on my XJ8. Would anybody be able to suggest a reliable cost effective product to steer me I the right direction?

depends what your after really

They don't make much difference to car insurance these days and escpecially on a XJ

The best out there is really a "Tracker" link to police and guaranteed to be found if stolen, they start  at about £300 and then there's annual charge

There's also cheaper ones on ebay, for the £50 to £100 range, That offer real time tracking, sound monitoring, safe zone's, recorded message calling and remote imobilising, these tend to use a prepaid sim, that you keep topped up, that will message you if the alarm is activated or moved

you can also get jaguar ones, but mot sure what these cover and cost to run, all tracker usually have a annual subscription charge

Thanks for your info, simular to my own investigations. Makes your wonder if installing one is worth the trouble and expense. You're right that insurance companies won't give any discounts. Maybe I won't bother. Thanks again, best regards Graham
